Drawing to comic | BetterMeir

v3

Use the attached image as the only visual source.

Create ONE single image containing an 8-panel comic page.

The comic must tell a clear, meaningful story based directly on what is visible in the attached drawing.

ORIGINAL DRAWING

- Panel 1 must show the ORIGINAL drawing itself as faithfully as possible.
- Preserve the original paper, colors, shapes, lines, proportions, composition, texture, and imperfections.
- First examine the drawing carefully and identify what is actually visible.
- Treat this image as completely independent from any previous image, story, or conversation.

STORY DEVELOPMENT

- Use the original drawing as the starting point and visual foundation of the story.
- After Panel 1, the story may leave the literal drawing behind.
- Do not keep showing the paper, sketchbook, artist, or someone looking at the drawing unless it genuinely belongs in the story.
- Gradually transform the important elements from the drawing into a more detailed, realistic or semi-realistic interpretation.
- Keep the main characters, objects, creatures, shapes, colors, or ideas from the drawing recognizable and consistent.
- Build a complete story with a beginning, development, meaningful challenge or discovery, resolution, and ending.
- Every panel must move the story forward.
- Do not repeat the same situation in multiple panels.
- Do not introduce unrelated concepts just to make the story more dramatic.

STORY LOGIC

- Silently plan the complete story before illustrating it.
- Every action must have a believable reason and consequence.
- Characters should behave naturally, socially appropriately, and consistently.
- Their reactions must make sense based on what happened in the previous panel.
- Do not create strange, rude, reckless, or illogical actions merely to move the plot forward.
- Respect what other characters are already doing.
- Conflict is allowed when it meaningfully serves the story, but it should develop and resolve naturally.
- The reader should never wonder, "Why would they do that?"

MAKE IT FEEL LIKE A REAL COMIC

This is extremely important:

- The result must look like a REAL professionally drawn comic-book page, NOT a storyboard, picture book, children's illustration sequence, or gallery of paintings.
- Use actual comic-book visual language.
- Vary the panel sizes and shapes.
- Do NOT make all 8 panels identical rectangles.
- Use a mixture of wide panels, smaller reaction panels, close-ups, medium shots, and dramatic larger panels.
- Some panels may be narrow or tall when the action benefits from it.
- Use strong gutters between panels.
- Use dynamic framing and camera angles.
- Use close-up facial reactions.
- Use over-the-shoulder shots where useful.
- Use foreground and background layers.
- Show characters interacting with each other, not simply posing.
- Use body language and facial expressions to communicate emotion.
- Include moments of action, reaction, anticipation, silence, and payoff.
- Make the eye naturally flow from one panel to the next.

COMIC TEXT

- Use speech balloons naturally throughout the comic when characters speak.
- Use thought balloons only when appropriate.
- Use small narration boxes only when genuinely necessary.
- Do NOT use narration boxes as titles or descriptions of each panel.
- Do NOT number the panels.
- Do NOT add panel titles.
- Do NOT write labels such as "later", "the lesson", "the original drawing", "the next day", etc. unless the passage of time absolutely requires a small comic-style caption.
- Dialogue should sound natural and conversational.
- Characters should respond to each other.
- Use short dialogue exchanges rather than isolated statements.
- Not every panel needs text, but the comic should contain enough dialogue and visual interaction to feel alive.
- Use comic sound effects when appropriate, such as footsteps, splashes, crashes, rustling, knocks, movement, or environmental sounds.
- Sound effects should be integrated visually into the artwork like a real comic.

VISUAL STORYTELLING

- Do not rely on captions to explain what is happening.
- SHOW important events through actions, expressions, framing, and reactions.
- Avoid panels where characters simply stand still while text explains the story.
- Avoid making every panel a beautiful landscape.
- Characters and events must drive the story.
- Use visual contrast between quiet and energetic moments.
- Let important moments receive larger or more dramatic panels.
- Use smaller panels for quick reactions, dialogue exchanges, or transitions.

MEANING

- The story should contain a meaningful point, emotional insight, or valuable lesson.
- The lesson must grow naturally from what happens.
- Do not force a generic moral.
- Do not simply state the moral in the final panel.
- Prefer showing the meaning through the characters' choices, consequences, relationships, or final situation.
- The ending should feel earned and emotionally satisfying.

VISUAL CONTINUITY

- Keep recurring characters visually consistent.
- Keep clothing, scale, important objects, environment, and spatial relationships consistent.
- Objects must not suddenly appear, disappear, move, or change without explanation.
- Characters should remember and react to previous events.

STYLE

- High-quality professional graphic novel or comic-book illustration.
- Realistic or semi-realistic.
- Expressive characters.
- Dynamic cinematic composition.
- Strong inking and readable visual silhouettes.
- Natural lighting.
- Detailed environments without letting the background overpower the story.
- Clear readable speech balloons.
- Strong sequential storytelling.

IMPORTANT FINAL RULES

- Create ONE SINGLE IMAGE containing all 8 panels.
- Do NOT create 8 separate images.
- Panel 1 must faithfully preserve the original drawing.
- Panels 2-8 should develop naturally into the story.
- No numbered panels.
- No titles above panels.
- No presentation-style headings.
- No storyboard labels.
- No identical panel grid.
- No sequence of eight decorative illustrations.
- No picture-book style.
- The final result should immediately look like a page from a real comic or graphic novel.
